Announced in March, Dr. Erica Schacht, currently Dean of First Year Experience and Chair of General Education, will serve as Dean of Faculty at The College of Westchester.
“Erica has proven herself to be an extraordinarily talented and effective classroom teacher and a highly competent academic administrator. Through her classroom teaching, doctoral research studies, success coaching, committee assignments, and Chairing of the General Education Department, she has developed the skills and experience to step up to the role of Dean of Faculty,” said Dr. Warren Rosenberg, Provost & VP of Academic Affairs at CW.
“I am all about change and taking on new challenges. As a member of the faculty, I feel that stepping into this role is the perfect opportunity to focus on faculty development and growth. The long-term goal is always to see the success and growth of our students, so if I can help pave the way and share my experiences and lessons from the classroom with others, it is a win-win,” said Dr. Schacht.
Dr. Schacht has been at the college since 2008 where she started as an instructor in the General Education department. She has a B.A. in English Literature from Salve Regina University; an M.A. in English Literature from Iona College; and an E.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Walden University. Her focus over the years has been on student retention, specifically in the first year, and more recently, faculty development. In her spare time, you can find her running marathons and spending time with her dog and two nephews.
