THE COLLEGE OF WESTCHESTER SCHOOL OF BUSINESS Receives
Insight Into Diversity Magazine’s 2024 Inspiring Programs in Business Award
National Recognition of Programs That Are Making a Difference for
All Underrepresented Groups in the Business Field
WHITE PLAINS, NY MARCH 2024—Today, The College of Westchester School of Business received the 2024 Inspiring Programs in Business Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education. The Inspiring Programs in Business Award honors colleges and universities that encourage and assist students from underrepresented groups to enter the field of business. The College of Westchester will be featured, along with 27 other recipients, in the April 2024 issue of Insight Into Diversity magazine.
Inspiring Programs in Business Award winners were selected by Insight Into Diversity based on efforts to inspire and encourage a new generation of young people to consider careers in business through mentoring, teaching, research, and successful programs and initiatives.
“As an institution dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity in higher education, we are truly honored to receive the 2024 Inspiring Programs in Business Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine, says Dr. Erica Schacht, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Our JumpStart Program exemplifies our commitment to providing opportunities for underrepresented groups, to pursue careers in business. By offering initiatives that facilitate the transition to college and providing access to resources such as our Career Center, we aim to empower students and equip them with the tools necessary for success in both their academic and professional journeys.”
Insight Into Diversity magazine selected The College of Westchester School of Business because The College of Westchester’s JumpStart Program involves initiatives designed to help high school students from surrounding counties transition smoothly to college or to gain exposure to college-level courses and experiences while still in high school. JumpStart programs often allow high school students to earn college credits for courses completed during high school. This can provide them with a head start on their college education for free or low cost. JumpStart programs include components that help students explore potential careers or academic interests, giving them a better understanding of their future educational and professional paths. These programs offer resources and support to enhance students’ readiness for the academic and social aspects of college life. This includes workshops, seminars, or counseling services.
“We know that many business programs are not always recognized for their success, dedication, and mentorship for underrepresented students,” says Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of Insight Into Diversity magazine. “We want to honor the schools and organizations that have created programs that inspire and encourage young people who may currently be in or are interested in a future career in business. We are proud to honor these programs as role models to other institutions of higher education and beyond.”
A call for nominations for this award was announced in November 2023.
