Day College Students of the Semester

Congratulations to our Students of the Semester in the Day College; Kimberly Lopez and Emelyn Infante.

The Day College Faculty selected Kimberly and Emelyn to be the recipients of the Student of the Semester Award. Demonstrating academic excellence, both recipients hold a minimum of a 3.8 GPA. In recent interviews, they shared their stories which are featured below:

Kimberly Lopez was born and raised in Yonkers, NY where she still resides today. She is a graduate of Lincoln High School. Kimberly chose to attend The College of Westchester because of the small classes and the closeness to home.

Kimberly is in the Medical Assistant Management Associate Degree program. With hard work and dedication, she has achieved President’s List during her first and second semesters. She will be graduating in 2022.

An Associate Degree is just the beginning for Kimberly. With her desire to achieve more, Kimberly plans on attending nursing school or returning to CW to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree. She is thankful for the support from her family, friends, and her professors at CW for helping her along her journey.

Kimberly would like to let everyone know, “To never give up on your aspirations in life and to always push yourself to strive for the best.”

Emelyn Infante is a proud Dominican who was born and raised by her immigrant parents in the Bronx, New York. She attended the Bronx Early College Academy, a small, family oriented high school on 164th Street near Yankee Stadium. Emelyn loved her high school experience because she was able to be a leader in so many different spaces.

Emelyn was very thoughtful and thorough in making her college decision. She knew she wanted a small, local college and one that would give her the college experience that she craved. Emelyn chose The College of Westchester because from the moment that she had her interview and tour, she felt at home.

Emelyn still remembers when she went into the building for the first time, the security guard so kindly told her, “that’s the smile that this school is built on.” There was much warmth and positivity in everyone’s greetings, that she knew this is where she wanted to be.

In 2022, Emelyn will graduate with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Post Bachelor’s, Emelyn aspires to go to Law School and earn her Juris Doctorate, and one day, hold an important government position in the city of her dreams.
