Congratulations to our Adult College Students of the Semester, Claude Laviscount and Ardita Lufaj!
Claude Laviscount is enrolled in the Accounting program with a cumulative 4.00 GPA. She has consistently earned President’s List recognition and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honors Society. Claude is also a member of the Institute of Management Accountant. She was born in Antigua and Barbuda and worked for 27 years in the banking industry at Barclays Bank PLC, which would later become First Caribbean International Bank. Unfortunately, not having a college degree prevented her from securing the title of manager. After her daughter obtained her Bachelor’s degree, Claude decided that she had delayed her lifetime dream of earning a college degree for far too long and migrated to the United States.
Claude liked the accelerated programs offered at CW, as she could finish in a timely manner while continuing to work full time. She did have concerns of not being able to keep up with the younger students and feared being judged for not returning to school earlier, but Claude thanks her Admissions counselor, Seloi, for the support and encouragement. Claude is expected to graduate in November 2019. In the very near future, she will start an accounting consultancy business, specializing in taxation for small business and individuals. Claude believed that one can change the trajectory of their life once they are confident and diligent.
Ardita Lufaj is enrolled in the Healthcare Services Administration program with a cumulative 3.94 GPA. She has earned President’s and Dean’s List recognition. Ardita was born and raised in Albania. She comes from a big family of six siblings and is married. Ardita moved to the United States almost three years ago and since then, has worked hard so she could accomplish her goals. The College of Westchester gave her the opportunity to continue her studies and grow professionally.
Ardita has earned her Associate’s degree in the Health Information Management program in April 2018 and is expected to graduate with her Bachelor’s in February 2020. While Ardita has accomplished many goals thus far, she has many more she looks forward to accomplishing. Once such goal is she hopes to be a successful administrator in a health care facility. Ardita is very grateful to The College of Westchester and also to her family for believing in her and supporting her all these years.
